Yao Ming is the former and current tribe chief of the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Tribe and one of the minor supporting characters in "Battle through the Heavens."

Background[]
He was the leader of the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Tribe till his brother and the first elder betrayed him and then imprisoned him at the bottom of the Nine Serene Spring.[3]
Plot[]
Xiao Yan came to the Nine Serene Spring for two reasons. One was for himself to find Spring Blood Crystal'a and the second was to help Cai Lin advance. While he was in the spring he heard someone ask for help and after looking around he found Xiao Ming imprisoned at the bottom of the spring. Xiao Yan was unsure if he could trust him so he told Yao Ming if he would along him to place a spiritual imprint on his soul as insurance. Yao Ming did not hesitate and agreed to Xiao Yan's request and then provided Xiao Yan with Spring Blood Crystals. Xiao Yan freed him and when they came out he found that Cai Lin, Little Fairy Doctor and Qing Lin had been injured by Yao Xiaotian.[2][3] Xiao Yan fought with Yao Xiaotian and then the first elder showed up to join the fight. Xiao Yan gave Cai Lin and Yao Ming pills to help in their recovery and then found both Yao Xiaotian and the first elder to buy Yao Ming time to heal. During the fight the other elders of the tribe showed up and recognized Yao Ming and asked for an explanation from Yao Xiaotian and the first elder. They claimed Yao Ming was an impostor and tried to hurriedly kill him. When Yao Ming took out the Nine Serene Profound Scepter and proved his identity.[4][5] Xiao Yan defended him till he recovered 60% of his strength and stepped forward to fight his brother as Xiao Yan continued to fight the first elder. Yao Xiaotian was no match for Yao Ming and was easily defeated. Yao Xiaotian tried to beg for his life and blame everything on the first elder but that was to no avail. Yao Xiaotian then tried to self destruct but Yao Ming used his hand to pierce his skull and removed his monster bead, killing his instantly. The first elder saw this and destroyed his body and fled as a soul.[6][7]
As Yao Ming retook control of the tribe he allowed he asked Xiao Yan if he ever heard of Demon Saint Huang Quan. He explains who he is and take Xiao Yan to him monument to see if Xiao Yan can receive Demon Saint Huang Quan's inheritance. As Xiao Yan goes into the monuments to gain the inheritance, Yao Ming and Xiao Yan's group waits for him to be successful. Once Xiao Yan comes out of the monument with the inheritance he splits the Demon Saint Essence Blood inheritance between all parties and shows Yao Ming the Demon Saint Huang Quan Dou skills, but Yao Ming is not yet skills enough to learn them at this time. Xiao Yan then appears at the Nine Serene Spring for Cai Lin to enter it and go into a retreat to advance. Xiao Yan give her the Great Bodhisattva Return Pill and the a drop of the Demon Saint Essence Blood inheritance from Demon Saint Huang Quan in order to advance to a Ban Sheng. Xiao Yan then asks Yao Ming help him defend the Zi Yan and the Eastern Dragon Island and if he does help him he guarantees that the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe will be his ally in the future. [7][8][9]
Xiao Yan then appears at the Nine Serene Spring for Cai Lin to enter it and go into a retreat to advance. Xiao Yan gives her the Great Bodhisattva Return Pill and the a drop of the blood inheritance from Demon Saint Huang Quan in order to advance to a Ban Sheng. He then leaves with Yao Ming to block the Heaven Demon Phoenix Tribe members from attacking the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe. As the Heaven Demon Phoenix Tribe members arrive, the leader Feng Huang, noticed them all called them to show themselves. Yao Ming stepped out first and and then Xiao Yan appeared with his group and gave the members a Heaven Demon Phoenix Tribe a chance to leave. Feng Huang declined and Yao Ming took on Feng Huang while Xiao Yan took on both Zu Yi and Kun Huang. As Yao Ming was fighting Xiao Yan overpowered his two opponents and told Feng Huang that he would take their lives if she didn't surrender. Xiao Yan let her leave but he will keep Jiu Feng, Zu Yi and Ken Huang prisoner to make sure the Tribe keeps their word not to interfere with the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe. Yao Ming and Xiao Yan then head to the Eastern Island to help Zi Yan. Yao Ming assisted the Eastern Tribe members while Xiao Yan goes to help Zi Yun fight the 3 Dragon Kings. [10][11] After the battle he headed back to the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Tribe and promised Xiao Yan that he would look after Cai Lin for him.
Yao Ming would next appear when Huang Tian comes to the Nine Serene Spring to try and capture Cai Lin to pay Xiao Yan back for taking his son hostage. Yao Ming is unable to stop him and Huang Tian is much stronger than him. As Huang Tian is trying to take Cai Lin out of the spring Xiao Yan shows up and blocks him. After Cai Lin comes out of her retreat she attacks Huang Tian as she has become a Nine-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python and also controls the souls of multiple Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python's. Huang Tian is slightly oppressed and as Cai Lin comes to Xiao Yan;s side Huang Tian let them know he is there to block them and the Northern Dragon King is attacking Zi Yan. As Xiao Yan is leaving he lets Huang Tian know that if anything happens to Zi Yan he will let the whole Heaven Demon Phoenix Tribe pay.[12][13][14][15][16][17]
He would not appear in the novel again and it is unknown if he was at the final battle.

He was close to Yao Ming before he disappeared and helped block the younger leaders from attacking Yao Ming while he was fighting Yao Xiaotian.[4]

Ming Cang[]
He was one of the closest to Yao Ming and blocked the younger leader's of he tribe from attacking Yao Ming. He raised questions to Yao Xiaotian and the First elder why were they trying to kill Yao Ming.[6]
Xiao Yan[]
Xiao Yan rescued him from his imprisonment and becomes his ally. He will help Xiao Yan defend Zi Yan and also watch after Cai Lin during her retreat in the Nine Serene Spring to advance to a Dou Sheng.
Yao Xiaotian[]
He poisoned Yao Ming and imprisoned him in order to become the leader of the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Tribe. Yao Ming would remove him monster core during their fight and kill him.[6]
First Elder[]
He had joined with Yao Xiaotian to poison and imprison Yao Ming. He would flee once he realized that he couldn't beat Xiao Yan and would probably be killed.[6]
Ancient Void Dragon Tribe[]
By joining with Xiao Yan and helping the Eastern Dragon Island defend itself from the North, West and South Dragon Islands, the Eastern Island becomes his ally. When Xiao Yan kills the Northern Dragon King and the Islands are reunited as one, he has the support of the Dragons.
